Meet Skyler Dowling: A Familiar Face and a Helping Hand in Tupper Lake & Saranac Lake
When you walk into North Country Savings Bank in Tupper Lake or Saranac Lake, you’ll be greeted by someone who truly understands small-town life. Skyler Dowling, NCSB’s newest loan originator serving the Tupper Lake and Saranac Lake communities, was born and raised in Star Lake, New York — and that deep-rooted connection to the North Country shapes everything she brings to her role. Skyler still lives in Star Lake with her husband, whom she’s known since high school, their two children, Elizabeth and Christian, and their dog, Rebel. Family is at the center of her life: summers are spent on the lake with family and friends, while winters are filled with snowy adventures outdoors with her kids.
Before stepping into banking, Skyler worked in the Tupper Lake Elementary School for three years, giving her a strong connection to the local community and the families who call it home. While Saranac Lake is newer territory for her, she’s been intentionally getting out into the community, meeting people, and building relationships — something that now comes naturally to her, even if it once pushed her outside her comfort zone. “One of the biggest ways I’ve grown since starting at the bank is learning to build relationships,” Skyler says. “Now it’s part of my everyday life, and I actually really enjoy it.”
When working with Skyler, customers can expect someone who takes the time to answer questions clearly, makes sure nothing feels confusing, and genuinely wants to help them get into the home they’re dreaming of. Coming into banking was initially intimidating, but Skyler quickly found her place at North Country Savings Bank. “I didn’t really know what to expect,” she says. “But I really like what I do, and I feel appreciated here. I feel like I make a difference, and that matters.” That sense of purpose is reinforced by moments that stick with her — like hearing a customer scream with excitement when they were scheduled to close on their home. Those moments, Skyler says, are reminders of just how meaningful this work can be.
Outside of work, Skyler stays involved where it matters most to her: supporting her children’s daycare fundraisers and looking forward to the day when she can cheer them on from the sidelines of local sports teams. Her connection to family, community, and the North Country way of life makes her a natural fit for the customers she serves. Stop by and see Skyler as you navigate your home-buying journey, and you’ll be treated with patience, care, and a genuine understanding of what home means in a small-town community. North Country Savings Bank is an Equal Housing Lender, Member FDIC.
