NCSB Donates $4,000 to Local Food Pantries in Response to Growing Need
Canton, NY — In response to a growing need across our region, North Country Savings Bank has announced a donation of $4,000 to support several local food pantries that play a vital role in feeding individuals and families facing hardship in the North Country.
This contribution will assist a network of organizations serving communities throughout the North Country, including the Church and Community Program in Canton, the Tupper Lake Food Pantry, the Malone and Plattsburgh JCEO pantries, and the St. Lawrence County Community Development Program (CDP), which operates pantries in numerous communities across the county, including Massena, Ogdensburg, Potsdam, and others.
Food assistance programs across the region have reported a significant increase in demand in recent months. At the same time, many pantries are facing reduced funding and heightened uncertainty surrounding SNAP benefits—circumstances that have made it harder for families to access the support they need. These challenges inspired the bank to help reinforce the safety nets that keep local households nourished and supported.
“Food pantries are a lifeline for many of our neighbors,” said NCSB President R. Brian Coakley. “As demand grows and resources tighten, it’s more important than ever for community partners like us to step up. We’re grateful for the dedicated volunteers who operate these programs, and we’re proud to help them continue their essential work.”
This donation is part of North Country Savings Bank’s ongoing commitment to strengthening the communities it serves. By supporting organizations that provide direct, meaningful assistance, the bank aims to help ensure that every family—no matter their circumstances—has access to healthy, reliable food.
