North Country Savings Bank Donates $20,000 to Frederic Remington Art Museum for America250 Initiative
OGDENSBURG, N.Y. — North Country Savings Bank has donated $20,000 to the Frederic Remington Art Museum in support of the America250 initiative commemorating the 250th anniversary of the American Revolution.
The initiative highlights the importance of preserving and celebrating American history through institutions that bring it to life. The Frederic Remington Art Museum is home to the work of Frederic Remington, a North Country native and one of the most influential artists in shaping the nation’s understanding of the American West.
“We are deeply grateful to North Country Savings Bank for this generous gift,” said Maggie McKenna, Executive Director of the Frederic Remington Art Museum. “This contribution marks a critical starting point in a major refresh of this historic institution, helping us reimagine how we present Remington’s work for today’s audiences.”
“With this support, we are advancing the reset of our permanent collection, refreshing our gallery spaces, and creating new interpretive experiences—including a Lost Wax exhibition and a Legacy gallery within our interpretive corridor—that will deepen understanding of Remington’s artistic process and enduring impact.”
Remington’s work—deeply connected to his time in the North Country—captures themes of exploration, resilience, and identity that continue to define the American experience. Today, the museum serves as both a cultural cornerstone and an economic driver for the region, attracting visitors, supporting local education, and enriching community life.
