North Country Savings Bank’s Seamus O’Brien Appointed to SUNY Canton College Council

North Country Savings Bank is proud to congratulate Associate Vice President and Controller Seamus O’Brien on his recent appointment to the SUNY Canton College Council.

O’Brien received his appointment from New York State Governor Kathy Hochul earlier this summer and will serve on the Council through June 30, 2032. The volunteer board provides oversight and guidance to SUNY Canton, advises college leadership on strategic initiatives and serves as an important connection between the college and the greater community.

Originally from Mamaroneck, O’Brien made the North Country his home after attending college in the region. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from SUNY Potsdam in 2021 and has spent the past five years building his career with North Country Savings Bank, where he currently serves as Associate Vice President and Controller.

For O’Brien, joining the College Council provides another opportunity to become involved in a community that has become an important part of his life and career.

“I also recognize the important role that SUNY Canton and other schools in the area play in supporting our communities,” O’Brien said in SUNY Canton’s announcement.

O’Brien noted that he is particularly excited about SUNY Canton’s efforts to adapt to the changing needs of students, including its programs for adult learners and initiatives designed to expand access to higher education.

His appointment reflects the spirit of community involvement that North Country Savings Bank encourages among its employees. As a community bank, NCSB believes strong local institutions, educational opportunities and community leadership all play an important role in helping the North Country thrive.
